Summerside seeks community input on downtown waterfront plan

Various groups in Summerside, P.E.I., are being asked for their input on part of its downtown waterfront plan.

A consultant has recommended a certain planning method be used that would set certain requirements in the development of the streetscape, says chief administrative officer Bob Ashley.

The city planner is meeting with different groups to hear what they would like to see included in the guiding document.

"Things like parking, set-backs from the street, building heights, windows, that sort of thing. It all kind of goes
together into a holistic kind of package."

The city has met with the historical society, and have a number of other stakeholder groups to still meet.

After those are done, a public meeting will be held, but a date has not yet been set.
