Sunalta arson suspects sought by Calgary police

Calgary police are looking for help in identifying suspects in connection with two fires in the city's southwest.

On Jan. 1, a man approached the back door of a business in the 1700 block of 11th Avenue, poured a flammable liquid on the building and set it on fire.

Then, on Jan. 20, two men — one of whom may have been involved in the first incident — approached the same building, broke in and set a fire inside.

It burned itself out before it could spread very far. Police believe the business is being targeted.

There were no injuries, but the fires cost more than $100,000 in damage.

Surveillance footage from the scene and descriptions of the suspects were released by police to aid in the investigation:

-

The first suspect is described as a white man with a slim build. He was seen wearing a camouflage jacket with a light-coloured hoodie underneath and a light-coloured tuque.

-

The second suspect is described as a white man, approximately 30-years-old and 5’10” in height, with a slim build and short receding hair. He was seen wearing a white hoodie.

-

The third suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 30-years-old and 6’1” in height, with a slim build and short hair. He was seen wearing a light-coloured baseball cap, black leather jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234 or Calgary Crime Stoppers.
