Suspect in serious condition, state investigating after MS Coast officer-involved shooting

A suspect received serious injuries after being shot Saturday morning by officers with the Gulfport Police Department, according to the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation.

Officers were responding to a call on Church Street, according to MBI, when the subject “presented a weapon” at the officers. The officers opened fire, with one or more striking the subject.

The individual received serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, while none of the officers involved received any serious physical injury, MBI said.

MBI is currently gathering evidence and will, upon completing the investigation, share its findings with the Attorney General’s Office.
