Man injured in north St. Albert shooting

A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries during a shooting in a north St. Albert neighbourhood Tuesday night.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. in the area of Langholm Park in the Lacombe Park neighbourhood, RCMP Const. Chantelle Kelly told CBC News .

A St. Albert man remains in hospital, RCMP said in a news release on Wednesday.

"RCMP believe there to be no risk to public safety and are continuing to investigate this incident," RCMP said in a statement.

As of Wednesday morning, police were still looking for a suspect vehicle connected to the shooting.

RCMP are encouraging anyone with information on the case to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

"We're investigating and getting statements from people and looking for evidence," said Cpl. Laurel Kading in an interview with CBC News.

"Our officers are in the very preliminary stages of this investigation, getting a lot of information from the community, from people involved or who might have heard something, so at this point in time, we're just referring to it as a firearms incident."
