Service suspended after person fatally struck on Barrie GO train line

Service was suspended on the Barrie GO Transit line Saturday night after a person was struck and killed between the Rutherford and Maple stations.

GO Transit tweeted that the person was struck at about 9 p.m. Saturday. Minutes later, Metrolinx spokesperson Anne Marie Aikins confirmed the incident was a fatality.

Trains were expected to be suspended for two to three hours, with full service to resume Sunday morning.

GO bus service was operating between Union Station and East Gwillimbury to allow passengers to connect to regularly scheduled buses.
