Swans Saved From Florence Form 'Special Bond' at North Carolina Sanctuary

Swans mate for life, so when one of a pair on a North Carolina farm was killed shortly before Hurricane Florence, the owner brought the remaining bird to Carolina Waterfowl Rescue (CWR).

Then came the storm, and the rescue group picked up two more swans off the coast of Wilmington. They put all three together, “and they haven’t stopped doing their dance since,” CWR director Jennifer Gordon said.

“It’s unusual for swans to [form] groups of three, so this is definitely a special bond,” she said.
