2 youths from Sydney Mines high school arrested after weapons complaint

Cape Breton Regional Police have arrested two male students for mischief after they were found with Airsoft guns, prompting a lockdown Wednesday at Memorial High School in Sydney Mines, N.S.

Police were called to the school after a staff member reported seeing a student outside a high school with what looked like a firearm.

Police placed students and teachers under lockdown while they investigated.

In a news release, investigators said video surveillance showed the pair with what appeared to be firearms. Both were removed from class and arrested.

Police expect to lay charges.
