Sylvester Stallone's new film Samaritan is set to be released on Amazon Prime Video on 26 August.
In the action film, Stallone plays the titular superhero, who has been in hiding for 20 years since a battle with his rival, Nemesis. Now aging, the Samaritan is being tempted out of retirement by his teenage neighbour to save Granite City.
Of the film, Stallone said: “I love action films that also have heart. I wanted to be involved with Samaritan because this story has many layers that I think people can relate to. It’s something of a morality tale that is also very exciting to watch."
He added: "We are thrilled that this will be seen globally on Prime Video where my fans and all audiences can enjoy it together around the world.”
Samaritan also stars Euphoria's Javon Walton, comedian Martin Starr and Pilou Asbaek from Game of Thrones.
The film is directed by Julius Avery who is best known for his World War II sci-fi actioner Overlord which also starred Asbaek.
Samaritan is Stallone's first live action role since 2019's Rambo: Last Blood and the Rocky star has floated the idea of playing the Vietnam veteran for a sixth time.
Stallone has a number of upcoming projects on the horizon including Expendables 4 where he reprises the role of Barney Ross alongside Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture. Also joining the series are Megan Fox, 50 Cent and Iko Uwais.
Later this year, Stallone will also appear in his first ever TV series. In Tulsa King, Stallone will star as a Mafia capo who has just been released from prison and sent to Tulsa, Oklahoma to build an empire.
Created by Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan, Tulsa King also features The Wire star Domenick Lombardozzi, The Sopranos actor Max Casella and Garrett Hedlund.
