T-Mobile says issues resolved after thousands of users report outage Tuesday afternoon

Thousands of T-Mobile users reported issues with the phone service Tuesday afternoon, but according to the provider, the issues have been fixed.

According to outage detector site Downdetector, the peak of outages hit around 2:30 p.m. ET, when more than 19,000 users reported problems. The majority of reports indicated users did not have signal.

In a statement obtained by USA TODAY, T-Mobile says service has been restored.

"A facility in the Salt Lake area had a brief mechanical issue that impacted connectivity for some customers in that market, but this is now resolved and service is restored. We apologize for the inconvenience," a T-Mobile spokesperson said.

T-Mobile isn’t the first mobile provider to face issues on Tuesday, as Verizon users also experienced outages in the Northeast earlier in the day.

“A network issue early this morning disrupted service for some Verizon Fios customers in the Northeast for a short period of time. As soon as the issue was identified, our engineering teams quickly restored the service,” Verizon said in a social media post on Tuesday afternoon.
