We judge all headphones on a scale of 10, analyzing the categories we think most important: sound, comfort, design, battery performance, and, if applicable, special features.

Here's how the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro earbuds stack up.

The Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro are not only Anker’s most exciting and feature-packed wireless earbuds to date, but are also a major milestone for the tech company. For the first time, Anker has given us not just another pair of affordably priced, well-performing earbuds, but a proper high-end offering that’s poised to compete with products made by Apple, Jabra, and Sony in this insanely competitive product category.

SOUND (9/10)

The Liberty 2 Pro earbuds sound fantastic, especially considering their reasonable $150 price tag. Each bud packs an 11-millimeter dynamic driver and a balanced armature unit. Combined, these features deliver a detail-rich, expansive sonic experience that’s a contender for the best in its class.

Anker has accomplished this impressive sound quality by using cutting-edge Astria coaxial acoustic architecture to align the audio drivers in each bud. The setup enables the Liberty 2 Pro earbuds to produce sound that simultaneously combines crisp highs and thumping bass without losing any detail.

Experiencing the sound made me quickly realize why the earbuds have been endorsed by 10 Grammy-winning producers. While listening to “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin, I was impressed by the earbuds’ harmonious audio signature and their expansive soundstage. Every bit of the sound was glorious — from the acoustic guitar intro and Robert Plant’s vocals, all the way to the legendary electric guitar solo by Jimmy Page.

What impressed me even more is that, unlike their similarly priced competitors, the Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro earbuds can deliver their high-quality sound tuned to your exact hearing. Dubbed HearID, this feature will require you to take a short audio test using a Soundcore mobile app. Upon completion, the app will create a unique audio profile that’s tailor-made for you.

The Liberty 2 Pro earbuds also performed well during phone calls. They pack a total of four microphones, which work together to block out ambient noise and isolate your voice during calls. Thanks to Bluetooth 5.0, they also maintained a consistently solid connection with my iPhone 11 Pro.

COMFORT (8/10)

The Liberty 2 Pro earbuds are lightweight and plenty comfortable. Their retail package includes 7 pairs of ear tips, thus guaranteeing that you’ll find a perfect and secure fit.

Each bud has a built-in button, which you can use for taking calls, controlling the audio playback and volume, and accessing your favorite digital assistant. I enjoyed being able to customize the controls via the Soundcore mobile app. This app gives you the option to tweak the buttons’ long-press and double-click response to your liking.

DESIGN (7/10)

The Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro earbuds have an elegant design that’s right in line with the expectations set by their price tag. There are two colors to pick from: black with gray accents or white with silver bits.

Lack of robust water resistance is handily the biggest shortcoming of the earbuds. With IPX4 rating, the Liberty 2 Pro can withstand moderate exposure to sweat. According to Anker, contact with water can damage the buds’ electronics. If you plan on using your wireless earbuds for rainy walks or sweaty gym sessions, you should look elsewhere.

BATTERY PERFORMANCE (9/10)

According to Anker, the Liberty 2 Pro can last up to 8 hours between charges. During my testing, I found the buds’ endurance to match the claims made by their maker. Overall, when it comes to battery life, the Liberty 2 Pro buds are on par with their competitors.

The sleek charging case of the earbuds holds three additional full charges for a total of 32 hours’ worth of wireless tunes. I like the accessory a lot, because it has fast-charging capabilities (you can get 2 hours of playback after only 10 minutes), a USB-C connector, as well as compatibility with Qi wireless chargers.

OVERALL (8/10)

The Soundcore Liberty 2 Pro Earbuds are an excellent alternative to the AirPods, the Jabras, and the Sonys that dominate this product category. These completely wireless earbuds pack an impressive audio performance, plus plenty of high-tech features.

If you are looking for personalized sound and a more robust rating for water resistance, consider the Soundcore Liberty 2 earbuds instead. Priced below $100, they have a similar design, but different audio hardware and a more workout-friendly design.
