Target Canada closing 30 more stores by April 1

Target Canada will be closing 30 more stores to the public by April 1. Last week, the retailer shut down its first 16 locations.

That leaves 87 Target stores that don’t yet have a closing date. The U.S.-based company is expected to shut down all its Canadian locations by mid-May, putting about 17,600 employees out of work.

Currently, Target Canada is advertising liquidation sales with discounts of between 40 and 60 per cent. It also informs the public in signs in the stores that say, “Time is running out!”

A Target Canada store manager told CBC news that the latest locations slated to close will be offering different discounts.
