Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour concert film: How to get tickets as it tops $100m in advance sales
Good news, UK Swifties, it’s now just one week until Taylor Swift brings her Eras Tour concert film across the pond.
And today, the film has become a box office blockbuster before it has even hit cinemas. According to its distributor AMC, global advance ticket sales have topped $100m (£82m). It added that demand “has been incredible from the moment it was first announced”.
It already has the highest one-day sales in less than 24 hours, and has overtaken Justin Bieber’s Never Say Never as the most profitable concert film in history. Never Say Never made $99m (£81m) in 2011.
AMC is also distributing the movie of Beyoncé’s Renaissance tour, which is set to be released in December.
Cinema operators in the UK are “licking their lips” at the news of these releases, said Michael Field, European equity strategist at Morningstar.
They “are desperately searching for the next big thing to drive revenue growth, after the success of Barbie and Oppenheimer movies this summer,” he added.
The film will first be screened on Friday, October 13, at cinemas across the UK (as well as 100 other countries) and, just like the tour itself, fans have to act quickly if they want in.
Tickets for the concert film are on sale now, with prices ranging from £13.13 to £19.89 depending on the cinema chain (referring to Swift’s fifth studio album title and her lucky number).
Announcing the news on Twitter, the Cruel Summer singer said: “The tour isn’t the only thing we’re taking worldwide……..
“Been so excited to tell you all that The Eras Tour concert film is now officially coming to theatres WORLDWIDE on Oct 13!”

The Eras Tour concert film was announced on August 31, initially being released in the US.
It took less than 24 hours for the film to break AMC’s US record for the highest ticket sales revenue during a single day in its 103-year history.
The concert film will be screened at major cinema chains like Odeon and Vue, as well as independent cinemas.
Toby Bradon, general manager for Vue UK and Ireland, said: “While summer was all about the ‘Barbenheimer’ phenomenon, it looks as if autumn is set to be dominated by Taylor-mania — and we couldn’t be happier.
“It’s been brilliant to see the growing buzz since Taylor Swift’s announcement just last month and we’re thrilled to call Vue the home of the Eras Tour, with venues up and down the country holding multi-screenings of what is set to be one of the biggest events of the year.”
So Swifties, don your friendship bracelets and get down to your local cinema to experience the Eras Tour for yourself.
