Taylor Swift has postponed her Eras Tour concert in Brazil on Saturday.
The announcement comes hours after a fan, Ana Clara Benevides Machado, 23, died during Swift’s show at Nilton Santos Olympic Stadium in Rio De Janeiro on Friday night.
“I’m writing this from my dressing room in the stadium,” Swift wrote in an Instagram story on Saturday afternoon. “The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio. The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first.”
While it was reported that Benevides sought medical attention at the stadium, the cause of death has not yet been confirmed. AP reports she had taken her first-ever flight to see Swift live.
On Friday night, Swift shared the news of Benevides’ passing on Instagram, saying she was “overwhelmed by grief.”
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it’s with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show,” the musician wrote.
“I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this. There’s very little information I have other than the fact she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.”

The situation is currently being investigated by the office of Rio’s public prosecutor. Rio de Janeiro’s Mayor Eduardo Paes also addressed the situation on X, saying the “loss of a young woman’s life … is unacceptable.”
“Obviously, we are still finding out more details about the circumstances of what happened," Paes said. "In any case, I have already ordered the municipality’s Executive Chief of Operations to demand action with the production of the show.
