Teen arrested and charged with murder in Belvedere Park shooting in Columbus, police say
A teenage suspect wanted in connection with the February death of another teen at a Columbus park has been arrested, according to police.
The Columbus Police Department said in a news release that Marquis Pool, 19, was taken into custody Wednesday and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime in the shooting death of 18-year-old Earkus Porter Jr.
Police responded around 1:41 a.m. on Feb. 25 to Belvedere Park in the 700 block of Parkview Drive concerning a person who had been shot, according to the news release.
Responding officers found Porter suffering from gunshot wounds, the Ledger-Enquirer reported in February.
EMS arrived and couldn’t resuscitate Porter. He was pronounced dead at 2:21 a.m. on Feb. 25, according to authorities.
Pool is scheduled to appear in Recorder’s Court at 8 a.m. Friday.
