Teen killed in Norfolk County hit-and-run

A teenage boy has died after being hit by a pickup truck in Norfolk County on Wednesday.

Police said the boy, 14, was walking along Fairground Road, a rural road west of Cultus in Norfolk’s west end, when he was struck by the truck just before 5:30 p.m.

He was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Norfolk County OPP are asking the public’s help to find the “dark- or grey-coloured” pickup believed to have hit the boy.

The truck likely has “noticeable damage on its front right corner,” police said.

Investigators would like to hear from anyone who travelled along Fairground Road, between 5th Concession Road ENR and 6th Concession Road ENR, between 5 and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, especially if they noticed anything unusual or have dash cam footage.

Residents who live in the area are also asked to check their home surveillance systems and call police at 1-888-310-1122 if the victim or truck was captured on their cameras.
