Teen riding scooter killed in Antelope collision. Sacramento CHP says he was outside crosswalk

A boy riding his scooter in Antelope was killed Monday night after a car struck him, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A 50-year-old Antelope man struck a 14-year-old while driving through the intersection of Don Julio Boulevard and Poker Lane about 10:35 p.m., the CHP’s North Sacramento office said. Officers said the driver had a green light as the teen rode into the vehicle’s path outside of a crosswalk.

Officer Justin Fetterly, a spokesman for the CHP office, said the motorist was not cited, and officials said alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the crash.

The teen — later identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Nathan Gebreamlak, a resident of Antelope — was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries, the CHP said.
