Update: Teenage motorcyclist killed in collision identified as Clovis East High student

A teenage motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle crash at Tulare and Fowler avenues in Fresno on Tuesday.

Several 911 calls reported the collision, between a motorcycle and a sedan, just before 4 p.m., according to the Fresno Police Department. Police said the the motorcycle driver was a 16-year-old boy and witnesses and passersby stopped to provide medical aid until emergency personnel arrived.

He was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

He was identified Wednesday by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office as Austin Ly, 16, of Fresno. He was a student at Clovis East High School.

The intersection was closed for a time Tuesday as detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated the cause of the collision. The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.

Alcohol or drugs were not believed to be a factor in the crash.
