Teghan's top 5 things to do this weekend in Winnipeg (May 26-28)

Pride Winnipeg switches back to original festival dates

The big one this weekend is the start of Pride, which has an impressive range of events including a powwow, rooftop patio party and youth dance party.

Other things you'll want to check out before they're over are the Fast and Furious Feast (literally nothing to do with cars or the move series) and the David Lynch doc screenings at Cinematheque.

Doors Open is back this weekend if you're looking for something free and different to do.

Last but not least, there's an R&B night at Forth.

WHAT: FESTIVAL — Pride Winnipeg Festival

When: Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Where: Multiple locations

Cost: FREE to $20

The Pride Winnipeg Festival kicks off this weekend with about a dozen different events to check out.

There are going to be flag raisings, art shows, dance parties and a bunch more things happening.

Don't miss Friday's two-spirit powwow at The Forks. It's a first for Winnipeg, everyone is welcome and it's free to go. Grand entry is at 6:30 p.m.!

Also Friday, there's a Reel Pride screening of LGBT commercials at The Park Theatre for $10, and on Saturday there's a rooftop patio party at Tavern United downtown with a drag show, dancing and drinks.

Sunday night, there's a dance party just for young folks at the West End Cultural Centre. QPOC, Queerview and Peer Project for Youth are hosting this one for people age 13 to 26. There won't be any alcohol at this, and it's at an accessible venue!

WHAT: FOOD — Fast and Furious Feast

When: Friday, May 26 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: Shawarma Khan at 225 McDermot Ave.

Cost: $25

There's a big food party happening in the Exchange District Friday night near Shawarma Khan on McDermot Avenue.

For the past four years, Winnipeg Harvest has planned a big fundraising feast on the night before Ramadan.

A $25 ticket gets you an all-you-can eat buffet from Kawaii Crepe, Bronuts, Fools + Horses, Shawarma Khan, Little Pizza Heaven and East India Company Pub.

All the cash from ticket sales goes directly to Winnipeg Harvest, so it's a good excuse to go eat doughnuts and pizza and crepes before you do your usual night out stuff.

WHAT: FILM — David Lynch: The Art Life

When: Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m.

Where: Cinematheque at 100 Arthur St.

Cost: $10

If you want to do dinner and a movie on Friday, stop by Cinematheque after the Fast and Furious Feast.

They're showing the documentary David Lynch: The Art Life on Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m.

Twin Peaks is back on the air now, more than two decades after it was cancelled, so it's not a bad time to go to a tiny theatre and learn more about the filmmaker.

You could watch Mulholland Drive before you go as a refresher, or in a pinch, Lynch's several-episode arc on Louie.

WHAT: ARCHITECTURE — Doors Open Winnipeg

When: Saturday and Sunday

Where: Multiple locations

Cost: FREE

Doors Open Winnipeg is on this weekend, which means you can go explore some places that are normally closed to the public.

There are mosques, former fire halls, temples, churches, art studios, old jails and city buildings on the list this year, and downloadable walking tours so you don't have to figure out your own plan.

The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is also opening up for this, and it has developed a tour specifically for Doors Open.

Tours are on every 15 minutes between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Saturday, and every 15 minutes between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Sunday.

WHAT: MUSIC — Come Kick It at Forth

When: Sunday, May 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: Forth at 171 McDermot Ave.

Cost: $10 in advance, $15 at the door

Forth is having an R&B and hip hop night on Sunday with Super Duty Tough Work, Marisolle Negash and F.C. Coconut.

There will be drinks, live music, DJs and drinks at this one, and if you get tickets in advance, they're only $10.

This is a relatively new night at Forth, but a nice way to spend your Sunday if it rains again.
