Temagami to dish out citizens awards

TEMAGAMI – The municipality of Temagami is making plans to present its citizen awards to the respective 2019 winners.

The Citizen of the Year award will be presented to Colleen Pender and Peter Nietlispach for their effortswith Temagami’s Christmas event, the Lifetime Achievement Award will go to Marcelle Berube and thePosthumous Lifetime Achievement Award will be given to Jack Humphrey.

Temagami council approved a motion to provide direction to staff to organize the presentation ofthe awards and to purchase a small gift of recognition at its regular meeting on November 19.

Council will direct staff to advertise and accept the 2020 nominations for the citizen awards until December 19.

Council also will direct the Ad Hoc committee to meet, review the nominations, and to make a decision concerning awards for 2020.

The citizen awards were established by council in 2014 and the awards could be for an individual, couple, family, or a group of people.

The names of the winners are engraved on a plaque and then displayed at the municipal office.
