Tenet star John David Washington addresses possibility of a sequel

Tenet star John David Washington has addressed the possibility of a sequel for Christopher Nolan's time-twisting thriller.
Those who have seen the film are likely to have a lot of questions about the time-inverting antics that take place – Washington himself has even confessed to not really knowing what the movie's about – but it's the ending that arguably presents the biggest head-scratcher.

In one of the final scenes, Robert Pattinson's Neil reveals to The Protagonist (Washington) that they've actually known each other for years – but just not from the latter's perspective.
Because of the way time flows backwards in the film (typical Nolan), The Protagonist is yet to experience much of their time together. Neil then reveals that, in the future, it is actually The Protagonist who recruits and trains him, with the pair going on to find themselves in a whole new bunch of action-packed adventures.
If Nolan were so inclined, he could quite easily build a sequel around that premise – and Washington would be bang up for it.
"In my mind, that's a yes!" he told Esquire when asked if it could work. He then jokingly added: "We will be doing this again, we'll see you in a couple of years."
He then went on to put a slight dampener on the idea, however, by stressing that he doesn't actually know if Nolan has any plans to revisit Tenet at any point.
"In reality, I don't know," he added. "Chris does what he wants. Maybe he has something that he's developed for years that he wants to do next, maybe he's been inspired by something else he sees and wants to do that, I don't know.
"I hope we get to do it again, I hope we get to explore more, because I think we found something really unique."
