Terrace Rotary auction a ‘huge success’ despite pandemic

The Rotary Club of Terrace’s 60th annual auction raised $50,000 to respond to local community projects and support international Rotary projects.

According to the club, the revenue from the action surpassed previous years, despite the COVID-19 safety measures in place. Over 225 businesses donated a total of 388 items with a combined value of just over $70,000. The action is the club’s main fundraiser each year.

“With that support, and the lively bidding from the community, the 2020 auction was a huge success,” said Brian Downie, former Rotary Club of Terrace president, in a Nov. 12 post on the club’s website.

The auction was streamed live from YouTube on Nov. 7 and Nov. 8. at the Terrace Sportsplex. Bids were accepted through phone and online. Due to COVID-19 precautions, there were no members of the public in-person at the auction.
