Tess Holliday is opening up about struggling with body image issues.

The model, who last year revealed she was diagnosed with anorexia, took to Instagram yesterday to get candid with her followers about how she feels in her own skin. Alongside photos and videos from a recent family trip, Holliday wrote, “I’m gonna be honest, I’ve been really struggling with body image in a way I’ve never experienced. It’s been almost debilitating because even though y’all see me out having fun, it sometimes takes so much work & energy just to be able to leave the house.”

While Holliday shared that she is typically “the kind of gal who always wants my photo taken,” the images she shared here were the first photos in a while in which she saw herself and was “kind.”

“I’m working on it,” Holliday continued. “Soaking up this family time and feeling grateful, even when it’s tough.”

The body positive activist received lots of love in the comments section. One follower wrote, “Your feelings are valid, and I’m so sorry you’ve been struggling, bb. That said, you’re f***ing STUNNING and plz don’t deprive me of pictures of your beauty and fierceness ever again!!!” Another added, “You look amazing and we love you! Holding space for you Goddess.”

Though Holliday may be finding it difficult to feel confident these days, she has long shut down body shamers. Last year, she took to Instagram to express her disappointment in tabloid photos that depicted her eating multiple times at Disneyland.

“This week, I went to Disneyland with my family,” she began the caption of her post about the photos. “In the 10 hours I was there, I walked MILES, went on rides, and yea, ate some great food. The @dailymail & @dailymirror decided to share some paparazzi photos of me at my most tired and only in the moments when I was eating food. Ever notice how smaller bodied public figures can eat whatever they want and somehow that’s either ignored or seen as cute?!”

She also called out the tabloids last year on Instagram after she learned that her body was named one of the “worst” bikini bodies in Hollywood.

“LOL I WAS VOTED THE WORST BEACH BODY THIS YEAR & IT MAKES ME MAD BC ITS 2021 AND WE ARE STILL PUBLISHING TRASH LIKE THIS?!!!” Holliday wrote in the caption. “CORNY LOL BUT ALSO MAKES ME LAUGH BC IM HOT AF LOLLLLL.”
