Tess Holliday Wants Lizzo to Win a Grammy Award Tonight as Much as You Do, TBH
Tess Holliday, model and activist, is rooting for Lizzo to win big at the Grammy Awards tonight.
Lizzo is nominated for eight awards, four of those being in the major categories: Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.
If you’re a fan of Tess Holliday, you already know she’s a major name in the modeling industry and made her mark, in part, by using her platform to advocate for plus-size women. When Tess hopped on the Grammys red carpet tonight, she let it be known loud and CLEAR that she’s rooting for Lizzo to take home a golden gramophone for at least *one* of her eight history-making nominations.
Cosmopolitan’s red-carpet reporter, Brandi Fowler, caught up with Tess ahead of the show and asked her point-blank who she would give a Grammy to—you know, if she had the power to do that kind of thing. Tess did not hesitate to say that Lizzo would be her first pick, which, honestly...same!
“If I could, [it would be] Lizzo. I’ve known her for a minute, I think it’s about time to see a woman of color who’s plus-size on all the covers, taking all of the jobs, and wearing all of the designers,” Tess said. “I think the representation and visibility that it brings to people who identify with her and have never felt like they had someone to relate to is important.”
Tess is a huge supporter of Lizzo because not only are they friends (cute!), but Tess also appreciates how Lizzo uses her platform to talk about being plus-size.

“I think it’s important because we are only given one shot at this, and I think if you have a large following on social media and you’re not using it to help others and to be vocal about what’s happening to you and to matters that mean something to you, then what’s the point?” Tess explained. “I think it’s been really nice to see Lizzo come into her own and own who she is, and I will keep doing the same through my platform and helping people as much as I can.”
Welp, I have nothing else to say besides I am rooting for multiple Lizzo wins tonight just as much as Tess is. Love to see women supporting other women!
