The Apprentice: Former contestant wants 'boring' show to be axed

Amy Anzel, who appeared on the 2022 series of The Apprentice, said the "boring" show has had its day and should be axed from TV screens.

The American entrepreneur, who owns beauty brand Hollywood Browzer Beauty, was eliminated in the sixth week of her series, with Lord Sugar criticising her selling ability.

She has now turned her attention to the latest series, which started earlier this month and sees another group of business hopefuls scrapping their way towards a £250,000 investment by Lord Sugar.

"I really think that this show has become so formulaic with carbon copies of boring candidates from the past," Anzel told the Daily Star.

The 49-year-old said the show used to be "so much more interesting with great characters", but has really fallen by the wayside.

She added: "I really think this show, if it doesn't change what they've done in the past and make it new and exciting in some way, is on its last legs.

"They should just put it out of its misery and not renew it, because it's just boring and samey. They say 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', but I think it's really broken."

As well as her business career, Anzel has worked as an actor on stage and screen, including in superhero comedy sequel Kick-Ass 2.

The Apprentice is currently airing its 17th series since debuting in 2005, with inaugural winner Tim Campbell now appearing alongside Karren Brady as one of Lord Sugar's advisers.

Last year's series was won by dessert parlour owner Harpreet Kaur, who has since expanded her Oh So Yum! business with the help of her investment.

This year has already seen four contestants fired and a fifth quit the process, with financial controller Denisha Kaur Bharj the latest to bow out.

Bharj was fired after coming out on the losing end of the famous "scavenger hunt" task, having stepped up to be project manager.
