Watch: Amir Wilson teases what to expect from His Dark Materials S2

Rising star Amir Wilson is fast becoming a familiar face on screens. After starring as Tiuri in Netflix’s A Letter For The King at the start of the year, he now takes on the role of country boy Dickon in the new adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett’s much-loved classic The Secret Garden, which arrives in cinemas and on Sky Cinema today.

In the film, he befriends Mary (Dixie Egerickx), who comes to live with her reclusive uncle on his country estate after the death of her parents. While there, she discovers a hidden garden and it’s Dickon who helps her unlock its healing powers, which changes her life – and that of her family – for ever.

Next month, Wilson is back on the small screen, returning as Will Taylor in season two of the BBC’s adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials.

And, as he told Yahoo Movies UK, “there’s a lot to look forward to. You can expect that season two will be a lot darker than season one. We get to see Will and Lyra meet for the first time and how their relationship progresses.” The central figure of Lyra is played by Logan’s Dafne Keen.

His co-star in The Secret Garden, Isis Davis, combines acting with writing and was recently announced as the latest addition to the writing team for season four of Killing Eve. The project, she admits, kept her busy throughout lockdown. “It’s been pretty intense, but I’m loving it,” she said. “I’m a huge fan of the show, so to be asked to join a team of such amazing writers has been a dream come true.”

Season four of Killing Eve was announced before the third season hit screens earlier in the year, although no release date has been announced. The writing team for this next outing is headed by Sex Education’s Laura Neal, who is also a producer on the series.
