Here's all you need to know about The Tower.

When is The Tower on TV?

The new three-part series begins tonight on Monday, 8 November at 9pm on ITV.

It continues over the week on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 9pm, and will also be available to watch on ITV Hub.

What is The Tower about?

Crime fiction fans may already be familiar with the story under the name Post Mortem, a novel written by former Met detective Kate London.

Her work is full of detail from her police career, so expect an incredibly accurate portrayal of detective work.

The Tower starts with a shocking scene at a call out to a tower block which ends in tragedy when one officer and a young woman fall to their deaths, while the other officer and a five-year-old child are still alive on the roof.

But when the surviving officer Lizzie Adama goes missing, things take an even more complex turn as DS Sarah Collins must find her colleague and work out what happened on the roof.

The drama takes in themes of racism in the police force as the investigation uncovers relationships and tensions between officers.

Whelan, talking about how the drama looks at the consequences of the way people speak to each other, said: "What I love about this script is that they are what you could call very small pieces of unacceptable behaviour that would several years ago maybe have been brushed off as just that.

"We cannot escape the fact that this is not acceptable anymore, however casual, however well meant, whatever angle you think you are coming from. I think it’s really interesting and believable."
