A 14-year-old youth in Thetford Mines has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting six teenage girls who were his high school classmates.
The incidents are alleged to have taken place at the school between September 2015 and March 2017. Thetford Mines police launched an investigation after the six girls, aged 13 and 14, contacted police.
The teen was arrested Wednesday morning, police said. He has been charged with six counts of sexual assault, as well as criminal harassment and assault.
He is also charged with obstruction of justice.
Police said that the youth tried to persuade one of the alleged victims to retract her complaint to police.
The youth has been released under several conditions: the teen must respect a curfew, stay away from the high school where the alleged incidents took place and refrain from contacting the alleged victims.
He is expected to appear in court on April 20 in Thetford Mines.
