Thieves steal 465 tonnes of corn from Quebec farm

The farmer said it's unclear whether the thieves used multiple trucks to steal the load of corn.

Some thieves in central Quebec managed to get away with nearly $140,000 worth of corn.

According to Sgt. Claude Denis with the Quebec provincial police, a farmer noticed 465 tonnes of corn were missing from his farm in Saint-Léonard-d'Aston, about 130 kilometres northeast of Montreal.

The farmer estimates about 10 to 12 truckloads would have been required to carry the corn.

The thieves allegedly cut through a fence, cut the power source to the alarm and moved security cameras.

Corn prices are at an all-time high because of a drought in the U.S. last summer.
