Third measles case confirmed in Edmonton

Alberta Health Services has issued an advisory after confirming a third case of measles in the Edmonton area.

The case involves an Edmonton man who was treated in Redwater. Lab tests have only now confirmed that it was measles. The man is now out of hospital.

Health officials say that anyone who was at Bon Accord Foods between 9:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Apr. 11 and the Redwater Health Centre between 10 a.m. on Apr. 13 and 8:30 p.m. on Apr. 15 may have been exposed to measles.

People who have not already had measles or have not received two doses of measles vaccine may be at risk of developing the disease.

If symptoms develop, people should stay home and call Health Link Alberta at 1-866-408-5465 before seeking medical attention in person.
