Anyone who's seen the Marvel films – and anyone who hasn't for that matter – will know that Loki has a pretty distinctive look.
We can't imagine Tom Hiddleston playing the character without that long, slicked-back black hair, complete with his black leather costume – but it turns out he wasn't always going to look like that.
Marvel's former Head of Visual Development Charlie Wen has revealed his original concept art for Thor's adopted brother and he's looking quite a bit more menacing than the version we know and love.
Decked out head to toe in metal armour, Wen wrote alongside his vision of Loki: "Wacky Loki! My first sketch of him as someone a bit off for the first #thor There were other options but this is the looniest one so I wanted to share.
"As I think of his backstory and focused on the manipulative bent than his relationship with his bro Thor which develops later, I put more character depth in his final version.
"At this time I also wanted to play with the idea that Asgard had magic based on science beyond human tech understanding. I'll post the final Thor I Lokis next!"
Wen hasn't posted since, so keep an eye on his Instagram for that promised next photo.
Although Loki seemingly died at the beginning of Avengers: Infinity War, several theories have been flying around suggesting that he may have actually survived the events of the film.
Unfortunately, we'll have to wait until Avengers 4 to find out who actually survived the devastation.
Avengers 4 will be released in the UK on April 26, 2019, and in the US on May 3, 2019.
