Thorold wants to show its active, age-friendly side.
The city is seeking photographs and sponsors for 2022 and 2023 wall calendars with the theme of “Thorold: an active, age-friendly community for all ages."
The project is being undertaken by Thorold’s Age Friendly committee. “The committee is doing great work and working on many initiatives, all benefiting our community under the leadership of Jean D'Amelio Swyer,” said Mayor Terry Ugulini, at the May 18 council meeting.
In an attempt to showcase active living in Thorold, the committee is asking the public to submit photos of “multi-generational and diverse participants at a variety of Thorold locations/landmarks displaying various activities throughout the city,” per the application form.
However, photos of Thorold landmarks without people are still subject to consideration. Photos will be the same for both calendars and applicants will receive $50 for every photo selected per month. The deadline to submit is June 4.
Sponsors are also being sought out for the calendars. For a $400 sponsorship fee, sponsors will be able to have their information appear on both calendars for the month, which they are sponsoring, as well as 50 copies of the 2022 calendar. The deadline to apply as a sponsor is June 4.
For information on how to submit a photo becoming a sponsor, visit thorold.ca, or contact D'Amelio Swyer, 905-227-7515 or email@example.com.
Per the form, the city aims to have 2,500 calendars printed by fall 2021 and of outside sponsor distribution, calendars will be available at the Thorold Seniors Centre, municipal offices, Thorold Public Library, Thorold Tourism Centre and the 2022 Summer Games.
