Thousands of Hydro-Québec customers without power after gas leak in downtown Montreal

About 11,500 Hydro-Québec customers are without power in downtown Montreal due to a gas leak.

The public utility tweeted that the Montreal fire department requested power be cut to thousands of clients on the island due to leak.

The gas leak occurred at the corner Atwater Avenue and René-Levesque Boulevard, according to the fire department.

The affected clients are in Saint-Henri, Little Burgundy east through the Shaugnessy Village over to Docteur-Penfield Avenue near McGill University.
