Thousands without power in New Brunswick

High winds have knocked out electricity to thousands of NB Power Customers.

As of 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, more than 5,200 customers were without electricity.

The outages are scattered across the province.

The areas of Moncton, Riverview, and Dieppe currently have the most outages. About 3,032 customers in that region are without power. Many there were also without power on Friday evening and Saturday due to a strong storm that hit southeastern New Brunswick Friday evening.

The region of Central York-Sunbury has about 480 customers in the dark, and the Shediac-Cap Pele area has about 1030 customers without power.

NB Power has tweeted it has dispatched crews to try and fix the problems.

According to NB Power's website, many customers could have power restored later Sunday evening. But there are no restoration times listed for many of the outages.

Environment Canada reported wind gusts as high as 78 km/h at the Greater Moncton International Airport on Sunday afternoon, and as high as 72 km/h, at the Fredericton International Airport.
