Three hospitalized after crash involving a Miami-Dade School Police officer, officials say

Three people were hospitalized on Wednesday morning after a crash involving a Miami-Dade County School Police officer, officials say.

At around 6:50 a.m. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived to the area of 95th Street and Northwest 29th Avenue after reports of a crash.

The Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a Miami-Dade County School Police officer was involved in the crash.

The sheriff’s office is handling the “traffic crash portion” according to Detective Angel Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the agency, in an email to the Miami Herald.

Details on what led to the crash were not immediately available.

Helicopter footage from NBC6 shows the aftermath of the crash with a red sedan making contact with the left side of the police cruiser. The TV station reports that a female officer was one of those hospitalized.
