GANANOQUE - The upcoming municipal election to elect a mayor and town councillors is only two months away.

The application period for municipal council and school board trustee nominations in Ontario closed Aug. 19. Candidate lists for the Oct. 24 elections were certified on Monday afternoon.

Gananoque council consists of seven members, a mayor and six councillors. By the deadline Friday, incumbent Ted Lojko put his name forward for mayor, while John Beddows and Greg Truesdell will also vie for mayor.

For councillor, Patrick Kirby, Bruce Burt, Vicki Leakey, Marion Sprenger, Anne-Marie Koiner, Colin Brown and Katherine Christensen are all in the running. So too are David Osmond and Matt Harper – the only two councillors seeking re-election.
