3 at large after stolen car torched following police chase in Burlington

Three people are on the run after a police pursuit ended with a pick-up truck on fire and an officer in hospital in Burlington.

The incident began around 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, when Halton Regional Police officers tried to stop a Chevy pick-up truck at Walkers Line and Mainway.

The driver refused to stop, and police pursued the truck onto the eastbound QEW. Officers stopped their pursuit when the pick-up hit speeds over 140 km/h.

Before the chase was called off, two Halton police cruisers collided. One officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The suspects eventually stopped the pick-up on Phoebe Crescent, where they set it on fire. Police allege they then stole a 2002 GMC Savannah with the licence plate AVZC 492 and fled the scene. They were last seen headed westbound on Highway 403 in Hamilton.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Burlington Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4747, ext. 2315 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
