How do I get tickets to Inauguration Day 2025? Deadlines are coming up

Deadlines for the public to request tickets to the 60th Inauguration are coming up, and those interested in attending should check with their congressmembers to learn how to get one.

On January 20, 2025, President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance will be sworn in on the west front of the U.S. Capitol. Trump, the 45th President and soon to be the 47th president, is just one of two presidents in history to be elected to nonconsecutive terms.

Attendance at Trump's first inauguration in 2017 sparked controversy after his press secretary inflated the crowd size in statements to the media in what Kellyanne Conway would infamously call "alternative facts."

For those who want to be a part of the crowds that day, here is how to try to secure tickets:

Tickets come from your local congressmembers

Tickets to watch Trump and Vance's swearing-in from designated areas are distributed through members of Congress. Multiple Congressional offices have noted that they will not know how many they have to give out until the tickets are distributed, which usually happens in early January.

However, some representatives and senators started taking requests in advance by launching an online request form, with deadlines to request tickets throughout December, depending on the office. Other elected officials allocate their tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.

Each Member determines their own procedure for ticket requests and distribution, so those interested in attending should find their local Senators and Representatives to learn about how their tickets will be given out.

Tickets to watch the Inaugural parade, which follows the ceremony, are not required.
