This TikTok of a woman being sexually harassed is horribly relatable

From Cosmopolitan

A TikTok video, showing 20-year-old Kaitlyn Murdoch being harassed by a man during a night out with friends, has gone viral. Women across social media have responded saying how relatable they found it too, which tbh, is pretty depressing.

In the video, the front camera records Kaitlyn's face as a man can be heard asking her to "share her warmth" with him (grim) and then probing her about why she wasn't engaging in a conversation with him. Sounding familiar at all? Throughout the interaction, Kaitlyn repeatedly and calmly tells him she's not interested, yet the man persists... despite the young woman being obviously uncomfortable.

The clip (titled 'Men scare me, Men scare me, Men scare me, Men scare me') displays Kaitlyn's explanation of events written on screen, while the whole interaction plays out on camera.

First, the caption reads: "This scary man approached me earlier when I was on a phone call and then finally, after trying to have a conversation with me, said 'I guess I'll leave'".

When the man reappears, Kaitlyn is shown shaking her head, saying, "I mean I don't have any 'warmth' to give you, like you said". The man is then heard saying, "You have warmth, just not to give?" and she replies, "Yeah, none to give to you." Yet, he still doesn't get the picture that she's not interested.

Kaitlyn then captions the next clip explaining that she was waiting for an Uber after the bar she was in closed. Simultaneously, the man can be heard continuing to ask, "Well who would you give it [the warmth] to?" Kaitlyn then sighs, writing on screen that by this point she was becoming annoyed. Out loud, she says, "Anyone else, like my friend."

Sadly – you've guessed it – the guy still doesn't back off. He perseveres, "How about on like a boy to girl level?" followed up with "You don't really want to have a conversation then?" to which Kaitlyn, for the millionth time, says, "Not really."

In the next caption, she explains how the man then sent over another person to call her a "bitch" because she didn't want to engage in a conversation with him.

Talking to Buzzfeed, Kaitlyn said that her motivation for filming the interaction was initially to show her friends, as "proof of what he was saying and how unsettling it was". She later decided to post it to TikTok, as a way of demonstrating what women are constantly subjected to while out in public.

Unfortunately, it wasn't just us who have found the video super relatable. So did plenty of people commenting underneath. One user, with the handle LynnNicole0125, wrote "Why do men feel like they're owed a conversation?". Another, Lilac.Kamaria, said, "I think any female can relate. You try not to be rude because you fear their reaction when they seem aggressive. It's very scary." At the time of writing this story, the video had garnered 946 comments and 124, 300 likes.
