Tim Bosma trial: trailer not locked during transport, police say
Police witnesses say the trailer seized from the driveway of Dellen Millard's mother's house was not secured when it was being transported to special facility to be searched.
Police believed that trailer contained Tim Bosma's missing truck. But during the towing of that truck its rear doors flew open and a box fell out, say police.
Police witnesses were explaining how they took possession of the trailer and transported it to a secure facility where they could act on warrants to search the trailer and the truck inside it.
The trial in Hamilton court against the two men accused of killing Tim Bosma is also expecting to hear more about phone records, and from investigators who did identification work on the truck they say was Bosma's.
Dellen Millard, 30, of Toronto, and Mark Smich, 28, of Oakville, Ont., have pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the death of the 32-year-old father from Ancaster, Ont., whose body was found burned beyond recognition.
Police officers testified on Tuesday about a frantic search of a trailer found north of Toronto as they looked for the missing man.
The court heard from a man who said he lived next door to Dellen Millard's mother, Madeline Burns.
Frank Cianfarani's call to York Regional Police led them to find the Dodge Ram that belonged to Bosma inside a trailer registered to Millard Air, according to testimony from Det. Const. Cory Weick. Millard Air is owned by Dellen Millard.
Court has heard Bosma disappeared shortly after 9 p.m. on May 6, 2013, when his wife, Sharlene, said she saw her husband drive off in his truck with two men.
