When it comes to the royal family's love lives, we are fully invested. With her sister Eugenie, - and three out of her six cousins - happily married, now it's Princess Beatrice's turn. This year, the royal will have her long-awaited wedding with handsome businessman, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi and we couldn't be more excited.

Back in September last year the couple announced their engagement and, luckily for us, on 29 May we will be graced with another royal wedding. But where did it all begin? We take a look back at Beatrice and Edoardo's relationship timeline: from previous partners to their 2020 royal wedding.

26 June, 2011

Princess Beatrice and her fiancé may only have been dating for around a year before getting engaged, but they've known one another a lot longer than that. Beatrice and Edoardo (also known as Edo- according to his Instagram are actually old friends.

His stepfather, Christopher Shale, tragically passed away at Glastonbury on 26 June, 2011, and close friends of his - including Beatrice’s parents Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson - attended his funeral with Beatrice alongside them. So it seems the couple (and their families) actually knew each other way before they actually started dating. Guess that made meeting the parents a bit easier...

July, 2016

Both Beatrice and Edoardo were in other relationships between 2011 and 2016. The Princess had a long-term boyfriend of 10 years, Dave Clark, but they split in 2016 reportedly because he was unsure about marriage. According to People, they both needed "space after a period of ten years to see what they both want".

October, 2016

Essentially, they were on a break. But any hope of Beatrice and Dave getting back together were dashed when he was spotted taking American advertising executive Lynn Anderson out for dinner in London in October that same year. Dave Clark went on to propose to Lynn in May 2017, less than 10 months after they started dating, and the couple married in Puglia, Italy in July 2018. What will be, will be.

May, 2018

In May 2018, Edoardo split with his fiancé, American architect and designer Dara Huang. Despite having a two-year-old son together, Christopher Woolf, the pair called it quits.

Early September, 2018

Come September, love was blossoming for Beatrice and Edo. According to the Daily Mail, the pair had the same circle of friends (as well as their families being friends) and were properly introduced to each other through a mutual acquaintance.

Late September, 2018

Princess Beatrice reportedly introduced her new bae to her pals at the luxury party thrown by Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal Diwali in London. With the bestie’s approvals, the couple were definitely together - just not in public knowledge.

12 October, 2018

Princess Eugenie got married to long-term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank on 12 October 2018. Sister Beatrice was maid of honour, but there was no sign of Edoardo on her arm at the wedding. Perhaps it was still too early days to make a public appearance - and arguably it might have upstaged the bride to choose that exact moment to introduce her new boyfriend to the world. So... fair dos.

November, 2018

By November, when the rumours of a romance were in full swing, a friend of Beatrice and Edo's told The Sun that the pair had "been on holiday together and Beatrice introduced him to Fergie and her dad. Things are moving very quickly, and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they got engaged within a short period of time". Well, when you know - you know.

10 December, 2018

The couple confirmed their relationship with a joint attendance at the Berggruen Prize Gala at the New York Public Library. But aside from reports from people who were at the event, there were no pictures to prove it.

25 December, 2018

Edoardo touched down on the island of Lamu, just off the coast of Kenya, on Boxing day, where the princess was supposedly pictured vacaying too. He announced his trip to his Instagram followers with a picture of a small plane on a dirt runway with the caption: "Time to get lost- Day dreaming and adventure".

Meanwhile, Edoardo's ex fiancé Dara took to social media with a New Year’s Eve Instagram post about moving on. She hashtagged, #openhearts, #openminds and #walkingaway.

12 March, 2019

Once the holidays had died down, and we were all settled into the new year, Princess Beatrice and her boyfriend made it officially official with their first public appearance at a gala at the National Portrait Gallery. About time! They attended alongside cousin Prince William and wife Kate, posing for the loved up couple pictures we'd all been waiting for.

31 March, 2019

Mozzi accompanied Princess Beatrice and her parents to the Bahrain Grand Prix (guess he’s a proper member of the family now). With another public appearance as a couple and a family trip, speculations began to grow that the couple were very serious.

You know he’s a keeper when he attends a wedding with you as your date. Especially a royal one. Looking like a cosy, happy couple, the two were spotted arriving together, for the marriage of Lady Gabriella Windsor and Thomas Kingston.

June, 2019

Sisters Beatrice and Eugenie were pictured holding hands with Edoardo and Jack either side of them, as they went to dinner at Gold restaurant in Notting Hill during the summer last year. Yes, even royals double date. Watch out William and Harry… are your cousins and their partners hot on your heels to become the newest royal power couples?

12 June, 2019

Beatrice and Edoardo supported her father Prince Andrew at his annual Pitch@Palace event. Edo reportedly stayed by his girlfriend's side all night and comfortably spoke to guests and family.

9 July, 2019

Royals like to party too, don’t you know, and this couple is no different. Princess Beatrice and her boyfriend were pictured hand in hand leaving the glamorous London member’s club Annabel’s. And just to make them even more impressive, after a night on the town, they both attended Lenny Kravitz’s photo exhibition the next day looking as fresh as daisies.

31 August, 2019

Another day, another wedding to attend. This time, close friend Ellie Goulding got married to her long-time boyfriend Caspar Jopling and Beatrice and Edo were there to celebrate.

26 September, 2019

Celebrations were in order when September rolled around, as the royal family announced Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi were engaged! News of the proposal made family, friends and fans beam with joy looking at the photographs to mark the occasion, taken by Princess Eugenie.

In a statement released from Buckingham Palace, the princess and her fiancé said: "We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement. We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can't wait to actually be married. We share so many similar interests and values, and we know that this will stand us in great stead for the years ahead, full of love and happiness." Adorable.

Mother Sarah Ferguson expressed her excitement on twitter saying: "I know what a mother feels so I have tears of joy. I am so proud of this sensational news. Andrew and I are just the luckiest people ever to have two great sons in law".

1 October, 2019

Beatrice showed off her stunning engagement ring at The Dior Sessions book launch. The pair made their first appearance since announcing their engagement - and she looked beautiful. Dressed in an emerald green sparkly dress, her 2.5 carat engagement ring was complimented perfectly.

18 December, 2019

Despite reports suggesting they'd changed the date of their engagement party - with some concerns that it may not happen at all - the princess and Edoardo celebrated their engagement shortly before Christmas, surrounded by friends and family at London’s Chiltern Firehouse. Sadly, for Beatrice, her father did not attend the bash due to backlash he received from his interview with BBC’s Newsnight. We're sure the couple still had a blast regardless.

25 December, 2019

Although it breaks royal family tradition, Edoardo was invited to the family annual Christmas day walk at Sandringham last year. Typically, only those who have married into the royal family are allowed to attend, but Edo (and Meghan Markle a couple of years before him) were an exception. Looks like he's in the Queen's good books.

7 February, 2020

Finally, the moment we had all been waiting for was confirmed. The royal couple announced their wedding date at the beginning of February for 29 May 2020. Save the date. After supposedly changing it twice, Beatrice and Edo finally came to an agreement (along with the rest of the royal family) and selected the day they would wed. It may be a smaller wedding than her sister's but we have no doubt it'll be perfect for them.

29 May, 2020

Looking to the future now. The royal wedding will take place on the 29 May, where lucky Beatrice has been given the ultimate gift from her grandmother the Queen herself… a reception at Buckingham Palace. The couple were also given permission to wed at The Chapel Royal, St James’s Place. Although the event won’t be broadcast on ITV like Princess Eugenie's wedding, we will definitely be keeping our eyes peeled for all pictures of the royal wedding of the year!
