Tito rose to fame as an original member of the Jackson 5 singing group (later known as the Jacksons), alongside brothers Jackie, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael. The Jackson 5 enjoyed major success in the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s, releasing No. 1 hits like “ABC,” “I Want You Back” and “I’ll Be There.” The group, which later included the youngest Jackson brother, Randy, was nominated for a total of three Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.
In 1976, Tito was among the Jackson siblings to star in the CBS variety series The Jacksons, which featured the family members — including sisters Rebbie, La Toya and Janet — performing various musical numbers and welcoming special guest stars. The show ended after one 12-episode season.
Tito later continued with a solo career, releasing the jazz/R&B album Tito Time in 2016 and blues album Under Your Spell in 2021. Before his death, Tito was still performing with brothers Jackie and Marlon (as The Jacksons), with upcoming performances scheduled for Oct. 25 (in Atlantic City, N.J.) and Nov. 1 (in Cincinnati, Ohio).
