“Today” Star Hoda Kotb Reveals How Her Fiancé Really Feels About Her Constant Clutter

From House Beautiful

By now, couples in quarantine are really experiencing the little annoyances of living together. And in a recent “Unscripted” segment on Today with Hoda & Jenna, Hoda Kotb admitted that her fiancé Joel Schiffman has “infinite patience” with her messiness.

The co-hosts watched a YouTube video from Dude Dad that poked fun at a couple arguing over dirty laundry. “I’m him and Joel’s her,” Hoda laughed, giving an example. “[Joel] was trying to do some work at our countertop … and there was all kinds of junk, I don’t even know what it was. I had a stack of books, a bag,” she said. “He is so much better than me … I don’t think I could live with me.”

Jenna Bush Hager could attest to Hoda’s disorganization because it’s also in her dressing room. Apparently, over the last couple of weeks, Hoda has collected dirty morning coffee mugs with the intention to take them home. But they haven’t made it there yet. “Could today be the day that the coffee cups go home?” Jenna laughed.

Plenty of fans could relate to Hoda with their own messy tendencies. “Hoda, I’m with you!” one fan commented on Instagram. “My husband has infinite patience also,” another wrote. “I can totally relate with the bag of coffee mugs!” another added. “Don’t take home dirty mugs because they’ll just stay in [your] car!”

This isn’t the first time Hoda has talked about her and Joel’s differing lifestyles. On the April 24 “Unscripted” segment, she and Jenna talked about their partners’ most irritating qualities, and Hoda once again turned the spotlight on herself, praising Joel for his neatness. “He does all the right things,” she said, adding that he makes their bed every morning.

She went on to tell the story of when she recommended that her cleaning lady and longtime friend clean Joel’s apartment when they started dating. “She knows how Joel is, neat as a pin. So she says to Joel, ‘Do you know her? Do you know what she’s like?’ Because she could not fathom that our two worlds could collide,” Hoda laughed. “Joel has a long fuse, because I’m like a tornado and he’s always behind me like, fixing.”

Now if only he could retrieve that bag of mugs. You know what they say—opposites attract!
