Toddler fatally mauled by 3 Rottweilers at babysitter's home
A toddler is dead after being attacked by three dogs in southeast Texas while at a babysitter's home, Houston police reported.
The fatal mauling took place in Houston's Near Northside neighborhood less than 5 miles north of downtown.
According to the Houston Police Department, at about 12:20 p.m. Monday, officers responded to a home for a report of a vicious animal call and found a 2-year-old girl who had been attacked by three Rottweilers.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the child to a hospital where police said she was pronounced dead.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences identified the child as Adaya Fisher.
Shane Hughes, a spokesperson for the agency, told USA TODAY an preliminary autopsy revealed the child died from multiple sharp and blunt force injuries due to dog bites.
Her manner of death was ruled accidental.
Police did not say whether charges are pending in the case.

According to a preliminary investigation by police and witness statements, the dogs attacked the toddler inside the home while she was being babysat.
The dogs were seized by the city of Houston, police said.

The case remained under investigation Thursday by Houston police homicide detectives.
