Tom Brady jokes about throwing Stanley Cup after Lightning win title

The Tampa Bay Lightning were crowned the Stanley Cup champions for the second consecutive season on Wednesday night and the trophy had its moment online.

In reference to Tom Brady’s toss of the Lombardi Trophy after his Buccaneers won the Super Bowl earlier this year, the official Stanley Cup Twitter account made sure it was known that while it is going to be staying local, there will be no boat-connecting throws.

The next morning, the legendary quarterback responded by giving some insight into his previous trophy-throwing state.

While Lightning captain Steven Stamkos might not let Brady come close to an opportunity to attempt a toss, he is busy pulling an all-nighter with the trophy in hand.

Tampa Bay cruised its way through the Montreal Canadiens in the Final, earning their title in just five games and clinching it with a 1-0 shutout on Wednesday.
