Tom Sandoval Is Ready to Confront His 'Scum Devil,' 'Narcissist' Reputation Head-On (Exclusive)

The 'Vanderpump Rules' star hilariously pokes fun at his bad-guy image in a promo video for his new podcast, 'Everybody Loves Tom'

Tom Sandoval is poking fun at his less-than-stellar reputation.

In PEOPLE's exclusive first look at the trailer for his new podcast, the Vanderpump Rules star, 40, makes himself the butt of the joke, as he gives a knowing nod to his bad-guy image.

In the promo video for Everybody Loves Tom — the first episode of which releases on Thursday — Sandoval can be seen sitting on a photo set, taking a lunch break. A staffer approaches and tells him they need to come up with a name for the podcast.

"We have been working with a focus group and we asked people to describe you, and these are the words that they were using the most," the staffer says, looking over his notes.

"Great. Hit me with it," Sandoval replies.

After hesitating nervously, the staffer dives in. "Okay, here we go. Scum devil, Sando-vile, narcissist, Sand-awful, scumbag, cheater, liar, scumbag…" he rattles off.

"I think you said scumbag already," Sandoval interjects, prompting the staffer to reply, "Sorry, they used that a lot."

The staffer then resumes reading out the focus group feedback. "Motherf-----," he says, followed by a long series of bleeped-out profanities, before ending with, "Worm with a mustache." (Fans will likely recognize that final insult from the heated VPR reunion in which Sandoval's costar James Kennedy called him that.)

"So from those, any ideas?" he asks Sandoval.

"I got it. Yeah," the TomTom bar owner answers. "Everybody Loves Tom. Yeah, it's perfect."

His hilarious podcast promotion bit aside, Sandoval has made it clear that he knows he has a lot of work to do to restore his tarnished reputation in the wake of his headline-making cheating scandal.

While chatting to PEOPLE earlier this month, he opened up about when he thinks the public backlash might finally die down following his months-long secret affair with costar Rachel “Raquel” Leviss that ended his long-term relationship with Ariana Madix.

“I would say that it's probably going to get worse before it gets better and don’t think for a second, ‘Oh, give it a week, give it a couple weeks, whatever,’” he said of his villain status, while promoting his stint on season 2 of Fox's Special Forces: World's Toughest Test.

“No, this stuff stays with you for a while. I'm in this for the long haul. I know it,” he acknowleged.

He also referenced the public hate he's gotten in the trailer for Special Forces, implying it motivated him to sign on for the intense military training series.

“The whole country’s pissed off at me. And I had an affair and I want to take a beating,” he declared in the trailer.

Sandoval told PEOPLE his time filming with his Special Forces costars — who include Bode Miller, Brian Austin Green and JoJo Siwa, among other stars — gave him a new perspective and helped him stop dwelling on his own problems.

“One thing that was really great about doing this show that I didn't see coming was the inspiration and stuff that I got from just hearing people's stories and the hardships that they've gone through in their own lives," he shared.

“That really puts things in perspective, and sometimes it can help rearrange your priorities in life and what's really important,” he added.
