Tony Normand, accused in fraud case, wanted by Quebec police

Quebec provincial police are looking for other potential victims of a man they believe befriended an older woman in Sainte-Calixte and defrauded her of a considerable sum of money.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Tony Normand after he failed to show up for a court appearance in Joliette last week.

Normand, 49, was first arrested on May 20 on charges of conspiracy and fraud. Police believe he had an accomplice and are concerned other people in the Saint-Calixte area may have been taken in by the alleged scam.

"The man will have gained their confidence by making friends with the person and then extracting a significant amount of money by claiming false reasons," said Sgt. Gino Paré of the Sûreté du Québec.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 1-800-659-4264.
