Top 5 things to do in Winnipeg this weekend (May 29-31)
It's going to be a little chilly this weekend, so grab a sweater and check out an indoor market at The Handsome Daughter or a basement synth show at the Windsor.
If you're free Saturday night you can get a dose of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beach House at The Good Will (courtesy The Living Hour and Vampires) or you can eat some great food at Nick's on Broadway's first chef table.
Oh, and if you want to see some old buildings and learn some stuff, check out Doors Open.
WHAT: MUSIC — Synth night at The Windsor
When: Friday, May 29 at 10 p.m.

It's been too long since we checked out The Windsor right?
They're having a great little show Friday night for $8 with a bunch of synthy/danceable bands.
Kindest Cuts, Camp David and Holiday Monday are all on the bill.
It's pretty much all electronic pop, so go expecting to dance and stuff.
I think it really will be fun.
WHAT: SHOP — Finders Frenzy at The Handsome Daughter

If you don't feel like making the trek out to St. Norbert this weekend for their farmers' market, try The Handsome Daughter in West Broadway instead.
HD is hosting a market Saturday with tons of local vendors.
There'll be art, vintage stuff, knit stuff, handmade soaps and jewellery and lots more.
They're also doing a little lunch while this is on so you can grab a snack while you shop.

That annual thing where you can check out old buildings and learn about architecture and history and stuff is happening this weekend.
Doors Open is offering a whole bunch of tours this weekend across the city.
There's a haunted houses tour, a tour of Upper Fort Garry and a tour of all those really rad ghost signs in the Exchange.
There are also a few panel discussions on urban design, which should be pretty cute.
Bring the least boring person you know, grab a couple of coffees and dawdle around some cool old buildings. That sounds kind of nice, right?
Plus, if you get bored, you can always dip out and go have an afternoon cocktail at Albert Street or Peasant.
WHAT: FOOD — Nick's On Broadway chef's table
When: Saturday, May 30 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Nick's on Broadway at 287 Broadway
Cost: $9 to $18 per dish
Nick's on Broadway is hosting their first ever chef's table Saturday night, and it looks pretty affordable.
They're opening up the restaurant from 5 p.m. till 11 p.m. for a special chef-selected menu.
You have to call to reserve a spot before 10 p.m. or you can just try your luck after that.
All the dishes are being developed by their chefs Nick Graumann and Ana Damaskin and there are vegan or veggie options.
It is a little different than a typical chef's table because there isn't a set menu — you can choose from a few different things.
They're only going to seat 10 people at a time, so call ASAP if you want to go.

Where: The Good Will at 625 Portage Ave.

The Good Will is continuing their Bands as bands series this Saturday with one of my favs as one of my favs — The Living Hour is doing Beach House!
Rounding out the bill is Vampires doing the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and The Will to Power doing Depeche Mode.
For the uninitiated, Bands as bands is basically just three local acts covering three not-so-local acts.
There are costumes and sort-of-acting and a bunch of songs you really, really like.
There will also be a DJ in between sets, so for $10 I really think you should go.
