Tornadoes touch down in Saskatchewan

Tornadoes have been spotted in the west-central part of Saskatchewan and several of them have touched down, CBC News has been told.

"There was a white strip coming down out of the clouds," said Scott Marshall, who saw six funnel clouds near Luseland, "You can see it, it starts swirling around, you can see it start curving. And then you just see it go down and touch."

Environment Canada said around 1 p.m. CST on Friday that severe thunderstorms with tornadoes are imminent or occurring in the regions and people should take immediate precautions.

The communities include:

The rural municipality of Senlac including the village of Senlac.

The RM of Tramping Lake including Scott and Revenue.

The RM of Mariposa including Tramping Lake and Broadacres.

The RM of Round Valley including Unity.

The RM of Eye Hill including Macklin Denzil and Evesham.

The RM of Grass Lake including Salvador and Reward.

The RM of Heart's Hill including Cactus Lake.

The RM of Progress including Kerrobert and Luseland

The RM of Antelope Park including Loverna and Hoosier.

The RM of Prairiedale including Major and Smiley.

Other tornadoes were reported earlier in the afternoon near Plover Lake and Biggar.

Thunderstorms capable of producing funnel clouds or tornadoes have formed between Kerrobert and Macklin.

Large hail is also possible with these storms, Environment Canada said. So far, there is no report of any damage.
