Environment Canada prepares to weather Pan Am Games

Here's what you need to know for Friday, June 26, 2015:

Weather

It's expected to be mainly sunny today with a high of 24 C. But Environment Canada says in a special weather statement that southern Ontario will have a "very un-summerlike weekend" with cool, wind-driven rain adding up to as much as 60 millimetres on Saturday and Sunday.

Wind gusts between 50 to 70 km/h are also expected.

Traffic

A collision on the eastbound Hwy. 401 east of Dixie Road killed a 25-year-old woman early Friday.

CBC's Linda Ward reported from the scene that a Ford Explorer SUV rear-ended a slow-moving or stopped Nissan Altima, causing major damage to the car and killing its driver.

The eastbound collector lanes were closed but were reopened by 8:30 a.m.

Transit

GO Transit and TTC are mostly running smoothly this morning.

Flight traffic at both airports is moving well.

Conservative MP spends night in jail

Former Conservative MP Dean Del Mastro has spent the night in jail in Lindsay, Ont.

But Prime Minister Stephen Harper's former parliamentary secretary is expected to be released on bail later today.

Del Mastro was given a one-month prison sentence yesterday for violating the Canada Elections Act.

He's appealing his conviction on those charges and is expected to be granted bail as that appeal process gets underway.

Man wanted in cell phone slaying may have vanished into Rideau River

Police in Ottawa are investigating whether a man wanted for the murder of a Brampton teen vanished into the Rideau River.

They say a man tried to swim across the river after allegedly hitting two officers on bikes with his car yesterday.

The two officers jumped into the water, but could not find the suspect.

Muhab Sultanaly Sultan, 23, of Calgary is wanted for second-degree murder.

He is accused of killing Jeremy Cook.

The 18-year-old was shot dead while trying to track down his lost cell phone last week in London, Ont.
