Weather

Today will be the hottest day of the year so far, with forecasts calling for temperatures to hit a high of 33 C. Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the city and a city-issued heat alert remains in effect.

The hot weather likely ease slightly on Thursday, with daily highs a few degrees cooler.

​Traffic

With the Pan Am Games over, drivers with two people in their vehicle can now use the HOV lanes on GTA highways. During the Games you needed three people in the car. The temporary HOV lanes will remain in place until Aug. 18.

As of 6:20 a.m., everything was moving well.

Olivia Chow, who ran unsuccessfully for mayor last year, is planning a return to federal politics. It's expected that today she will announce her intention to run for the NDP in the new riding of Spadina - Fort York.

Demonstrators with Black Lives Matter stopped traffic on the southbound Allen Expressway on Monday night to protest the recent police shooting death of two black men.

News broke overnight that the Toronto Blue Jays have made a stunning trade that will send Jose Reyes and some prospects to the Colorado Rockies in exchange for shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, a five-time all star.
